Shetland is situated to the North of the British mainland and can be reached by a daily overnight ferry from Aberdeen or by plane.
The ferry is a RO-RO service which docks in Lerwick at 7:30 am each morning. Details of this service can be found on the Northlink Ferries website. See our "Useful Links" page.
Direct flights to Shetland leave from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. There are a number of flights to Shetland each day. All flights arrive at Sumburgh airport on the very South of the island. There is a bus service from the airport to Lerwick or there are a number of car hire operators who will deliver cars to the airport.
